Under this year’s motto “It all adds up in Hamburg,” Enric Molina, Tournament Director of the Bitpanda Hamburg Open, unveiled the official entry list for this year’s ATP 500 tournament (May 16–23, 2026) on Wednesday morning at Port des Lumières – the spectacular immersive digital art venue in Hamburg’s Überseequartier. This was the first ATP tournament immersive press conference, featuring images of the tournament like never before seen, and an entry list presented on 10-meter walls surrounding the entire museum room.
The traditional clay-court tournament at the Rothenbaum once again boasts a world-class field, making it one of the highlights of the international tennis calendar.
The field is headlined by four Top 10 players in the world rankings: local hero Alexander Zverev, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Ben Shelton, and former champion Lorenzo Musetti. In total, eleven Top 20 players are included on the entry list – an exceptionally strong lineup that also results in one of the toughest cut-off rankings in the tournament’s history.
Holger Rune is making his highly anticipated comeback at Rothenbaum and defending champion Flavio Cobolli is coming back to fight for the new trophy – also presented today and inspired by the iconic center court ceiling.
Ben Shelton also arrives in Hamburg with strong momentum, having just won the ATP 500 tournament in Munich (defeating Cobolli in the final), making him one of the most in-form players on the tour.
Fans can also look forward to former Top 10 stars such as Karen Khachanov, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, Jakub Menšík, Jack Draper, and Denis Shapovalov. The next generation is also represented, led by Brazilian top talent João Fonseca.
“With four Top 10 players and eleven players from the Top 20, we are presenting one of the strongest fields we have ever had in Hamburg. The depth of quality underlines the importance of the Bitpanda Hamburg Open on the international calendar. With Alexander Zverev as the local hero leading the field and players in outstanding form like Ben Shelton and Flavio Cobolli, it promises to be an outstanding week of world-class tennis at Rothenbaum. At the same time, it is important for us to create space not only for established stars but also for exciting stories – whether it’s Holger Rune’s comeback or the next generation of players. We are very much looking forward to offering our fans best-in-class tennis and a unique tournament atmosphere”, said Tournament Director Enric Molina Mur of organizer Tennium.
From a German perspective, there is also good news: Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz will return to the courts at Rothenbaum this year. The successful doubles team won the title two years ago.
In line with Tennium’s mission to continuously improve fan and hospitality experiences, the tournament will also feature a bigger fan zone, a new exclusive VIP space – The Players Sky Lounge – where guests will enjoy the tournament from the players’ lounge with privileged court views and proximity to the players. A new special highlight off the court: for the first time, “German Tennis Day” will take place on Monday, May 18. On this day, Alexander Zverev is expected to enter the tournament, along with other German players.* A unique black-red-gold tennis atmosphere is expected throughout the venue.
